California Cartage/NFI, the largest warehousing and drayage company at the Ports of LA and Long Beach, will pay $3.5 million to over 1500 workers for wage theft at their customs inspection facility in Carson, CA.

“No contractor receiving federal funds to provide services to the government should gain an economic advantage by paying workers below the wages and fringe benefits required by applicable law,” Kimchi Bui, the department’s district director for the wage and hour division, said in a statement shared in the Los Angeles Times.

Cal Cartage/NFI has a long history of wage theft, health and safety and other violations. The workers are standing up at their facility at the Port of Los Angeles and demanding full-time, good-paying permanent jobs.
