After six years fighting hard to organize and support courageous workers in the supply chains of Walmart, Amazon and other major retailers, Warehouse Worker Resource Center Co-Director Celene Perez will be moving on from the organization at the end of January. She is taking a position at the Central Labor Council of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. Celene will continue her career building power among workers in the crucial Inland Region, sharing the knowledge and skills she exhibited in her time at WWRC with the region’s burgeoning labor movement. We thank Celene for her principled, fearless leadership and vision for worker justice.

While Celene cannot be replaced, we are also very excited about the future of the warehouse worker movement in Southern California. We have built strong leadership development programs among workers in key facilities across the region, and deep collaborative relationships with unions, environmental justice partners, the immigrant rights movement and the racial justice movement. With Celene as a partner at the CLC, we see an opportunity to continue organizing among the most marginalized workers in the key warehouses of major companies. Sheheryar Kaoosji will continue to lead the organization as Executive Director and, along with a committed board, an experienced staff, and a strong base of courageous workers, the WWRC is looking forward toward a bright 2019.

We thank Celene for her work. Onward!

In Solidarity,

Staff and Board of Warehouse Worker Resource Center
Suzanne Foster, Board President
Sheheryar Kaoosji, Executive Director
