Athena is a broad coalition of local and national organizations representing working people, small business people, people of color, immigrants, and neighbors, along with activists, advocates, policy experts, and academics. The California Coalition for Worker Power (CCWP) is a group of worker centers, worker advocates, labor policy experts and labor unions dedicated to ensuring that every worker in California has the power to come together and improve their work conditions and their communities. We believe that all work is valuable and that all working people must have a voice in order for California to succeed in creating a more just and equitable society.
I.E. United is a collaboration of community agents and leaders who believe in affecting change in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. I.E. United was established in 2017 as a table with a focus on supporting, developing and electing candidates who support our community agenda, and brings together inter-sectional movements of our partners in one collective vision for our region.
Inland Coalition for Immigrant Justice (ICIJ) is composed of over 35 organizations that serve the immigrant community in the Inland Empire. The IC4IJ currently focuses on advocacy, changing the narrative, and capacity building. Our coalition engages in policy advocacy, community organizing and education, and rapid response to ICE and border patrol operations. We are collectively changing the narrative of the one million immigrants who live, thrive, and are a foundational part of the fabric of the IE. We are building organizational capacity through leadership development, cooperation, support networks, and shared regional strategies. Lastly, the IC4IJ provides resources such as training, technical support, and grants to coalition partners to further support their efforts and mission in the region.
Just San Bernardino (Just SB) is a coalition of organizations developing a community-centered plan that actively addresses the conditions that have led to San Bernardino’s consistently high poverty rates, unemployment, underemployment, low wages, eviction, and other key indicators of economic health through a grassroots lens.
Los Angeles Worker Center Network was formed in Spring 2017 and has focused on wage enforcement along with rapid response to immigration-based threats. PowerSwitch Action, formerly the Partnership for Working Families, with our 20 affiliate organizations, is driving a progressive agenda to harness the power of cities and influence billions of dollars in public and private investment. Our network is building powerful, governing coalitions with a grassroots base of leaders to advance a vision of just, sustainable, and democratic cities.
The Safety Net for All Coalition is composed of over 150 organizations throughout California united by the fight for an inclusive safety net for all workers. This year, the coalition is calling for unemployment benefits for immigrant workers who are currently excluded from unemployment insurance. New legislation, the Safety Net for All Workers Act or SB 227, will provide temporary wage replacement for undocumented workers who have lost their jobs.
