Waitex Warehouse Workers Win $80,000 In Back Wages

May 22, 2017 by dean

Over two years ago, ten brave workers from Waitex (West Coast Warehouse Inc), a major warehouse in Fontana, stood up and filed a claim against their employer, alleging unpaid hours, overtime, breaks and other major wage violations.  Among other things, workers were forced to make deliveries in their personal cars to UPS facilities after work, unpaid, and to work up to 14 hour shifts without overtime or all the breaks required.

The WWRC and our partners at the UC Irvine School of Law students and faculty teamed up to support these workers’ claims throughout the process.  UCI represented these workers at their DLSE hearing earlier this year.

On Monday, May 15, the San Bernardino office of the California Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE) awarded these ten workers a total of $80,602.97.  This is a great victory for workers who are fighting just for the money they are owed from up to five years ago.  Congratulations to the Waitex workers for their victory!
